Barbara Dooley-Huser has
been working in the "Green Industry" since 1995, primarily in a retail nursery/landscape environment. "I've always had a passion for container gardening, and now combine beautiful containers with other elements to create "outdoor living spaces." Color, texture and theme all play a role in developing a tranquil, beautiful space that attracts birds, butterflies... a "living room" in which to enjoy create containers.
"Whether its a Mediterranean garden, a formal European look, Texas ranch chic, Mexican hacienda, or just a natural cottage garden, all of these can be derived with the right selection of containers, benches, chimes, water features and garden art. Also, I try to use a backdrop of evergreens, particularly in large pottery, so that when the seasons change, and so should your pots, after the initial planting, adding seasonal color shouldn't be too difficult."
Because of the mild climate in Central Texas, our "patio culture" allows us to enjoy outdoor living areas all year round. The Perennial Potter can
create ongoing color in your containers and beds that are not only beautiful and attract birds and butterflies, but will enhance the value of your home as well.

Because of Barbara's amazing talent to create a homeowner's outdoor dream, she has been recognized by many. Featured articles have been published in Country Lifestyle Magazine and, most recently, Fine Gardening (Container Gardening Issue) Magazine.
An excerpt from the 2008 issue of Fine Gardening:
Her Philosophy:
"Every landscape and outdoor living area should have some containers. They should be large and bold, making a statement about the general theme of the home and the home owner."
Her Strategy:
"I love texture. In fact, it's almost more important in my designs than color. One thing I always try to do is give each container bones: evergreens that keep the pot looking good all the time. Often times, it's these bones that set the tone for the planting, whether it's a bamboo or a handsome topiary."
Pet Peeve:
"Like everything in Texas, containers need to be big. One of my pet peeves is to see a huge home with a billion tiny pots in front of it. The home owner goes through a lot of work to maintain them for very little impact."
Favorite Plants:
"I'll try anything once, and it's usually the least likely plant that turns out to be successful. I do love Proven Winners' plants. They always seem to be on the cutting edge of new and improved varieties."
